Tahiti and its Islands

With its 5 archipelagos (the Australs, the Gambiers, the Marquesas, the Society Islands, and the Tuamoto Archipelago) comprising 118 islands spread over 4,000km², French Polynesia covers an area larger than Europe.

Mountains glorified by Gauguin dominate the upper islands.  They are brimming with luxuriant, green valleys, waterfalls cascading down mountain-sides, beaches of black basaltic or white coral sand... The spectacular colours of the sunrise and sunset highlight the uniqueness of this natural spectacle.

On the lower islands, only the atolls can be seen above the water, surrounded by the coral reef and beaches that stretch into infinity.  Inland lagoons dazzle you with their jade green and turquoise blue. On these wild lands, birds, fish and shellfish reign supreme.
