General description :
Home to 32,000 inhabitants, Saint-Raphaël is a beautiful Riviera resort set at the foot of the magnificent Estérel Hills, between Cannes and Saint-Tropez (38 km.) Visitors to Saint-Raphaël can enjoy the town's exciting year-round events program and rich natural heritage, including a breathtaking 36-kilometre coast, recreational activities in the Estérel hills and 4 international golf courses.
To benefit from our incredible 300 days of sunshine per year and translucent Mediterranean waters, the town offers a wide choice of sandy and shingle beaches, plus our famous "Calanques" (little fjords). And after trying your hand at our vast range of water sports, walkers, cyclists and riders can take off to explore the coastal footpath, the Estérel Hills and the Corniche d’Or coast road.
Sunny Saint-Raphaël harbours a rare architectural heritage, with luxurious villas – many dating back to the town's 19th-century golden age - attractive shops and delightful ports and marinas. Visitors can also enjoy guided tours of "Notre Dame de la Victoire de Lepante" cathedral, visit the archaeological museum, or take a stroll round the well-preserved old quarter and Provençal markets.
Aside from its great choice of leisure activities, Saint-Raphaël also hosts a packed all-seasons events program, with highlights including the "Fêtes de Lumière" street theatre festival in December and Mimosa Week in February, plus many fairs and traditional celebrations.
Saint-Raphaël is quickly and easily accessible from the world over.Visitors arriving by air can choose between Nice-Côte d’Azur international airport (45 minute drive), Toulon-Hyères European airport (1 hour drive), or Marseille-Provence international airport, (1 ½ hour drive). Visitors arriving by train can opt for the TGV Méditerranée high-speed train, arriving directly at Saint-Raphaël rail station. Finally, for drivers, A8 highway junction 38 (Fréjus/Saint-Raphaël) is located just 5 km from the town centre.Saint-Raphaël boasts the Var region's biggest choice of accommodation for all budgets, with 45 hotels, 18 apartment hotels, 12 campsites, 7 holiday villages and 196 seasonal rentals.
Set between sea and country, Saint-Raphaël is the perfect choice for fun and varied holidays on the French Riviera.
