Company description

General description  :   IN BEAUNE, EVERYTHING IS WINE. IN THE CAFÉS, RESTAURANTS AND UNDERGROUND CELLARS, EVERYONE TALKS WINE. FOR CENTURIES, THIS TOWN OF NÉGOCIANTS AND VIGNERONS, SET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VINEYARD, LIVES BY AND FOR WINE.

Around the famous Hôtel-Dieu and its Hospices, the town cultivates a "wine-colored" art of living. To realize this, a walk through the streets is all that's needed.
On a café terrace, tourists swap impressions of the Beaune Clos des Mouches they're tasting. Further along, while waiting for the local specialties they've just ordered, a group of friends draws up their day's program: a walk through the vines, then some cellar visits.
A few meters away, a vigneron makes a delivery to one of his wine merchant clients. After unloading the bottles, conversation begins. "When's the harvest
starting? Is it looking good?"
For centuries, countless tourists have come to Beaune to discover and enjoy the pleasures of tasting. The kings of France and the dukes of Burgundy were already interested in Beaune's wines. The Flemish traded their cloth for the local nectar, which they then served in Bruges.
Here, every bookstore has at least one book on wine in its display window.
Specialty boutiques, wine merchants and tasting cellars can be found on every street corner.
At the Athenaeum, the art of "wine-colored" living is everywhere: glasses, carafes, corkscrews, books, vineyard maps, videos and so on. Here again, life is lived by and for wine.
Beaune has been designated the capital of the wines of Burgundy, and for good reason. Protected by its ramparts, which are reminiscent of an immense circle of
barrels, the town shines through the Hospices, an architectural jewel with glazed
roof tiles overlooking the cobbled streets. There's treasure hidden beneath the latter:
the maze of cellars that runs for dozens of kilometers.
Often occupied by religious orders, the towers of the ramparts were quickly put to use as gigantic cellars by the wine négociants established in the old town from
the eighteenth century on.
With the négociants and vignerons who sell the wines throughout the world, a whole economy developed: from coopers to hoteliers, from printers to tractor manufacturers, from amateurs to importers; not forgetting the main players, those who make the wine - and make its colors shine.
People come to Beaune from far and wide to live wine, whether they're novices, amateurs, connoisseurs or professionals.
So every step taken in the town is an opportunity to discover Beaune's wines and its "wine-colored" jewel box.
